Octopath Traveler, a 2018 release from Square Enix, provided players with an engaging branching narrative and an engaging fighting system, and it didn’t take long for fans to start anticipating Octopath Traveler 2. Octopath Traveler 2 was formally unveiled in September 2022 at a Nintendo Direct, after the mobile precursor game Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. Soon later, at the Tokyo Game Show, fans got their first glimpse of Octopath Traveler 2’s universe, brand-new Solistia setting, and cast while also getting to play the next game in action.
Even when Octopath Traveler 2 comes out in a few weeks, some of its components haven’t been made public yet. The Scholar in Octopath Traveler 2 is a somewhat distinctive character named Osvald V. Vanstein. While the origins of some characters may include some sadness, Osvald’s is more devastating than others.
Osvald is imprisoned on Frigit Isle in the Winterlands, where he is suspected of killing his wife and daughter. He is currently doing his sentence in a chilly cell. After spending 1,879 days behind bars, Osvald is resolved to exact revenge on Harvey, a fellow magic study whom he holds accountable for his misfortune, and he makes a personal commitment that Harvey will perish by his own hand. Underneath his intellectual façade, Osvald harbours a reservoir of darkness that should provide for an engaging adventure when his tale interjects with the other characters. Osvald is motivated by retribution and has become bitter as a result of his experiences.
The day-night cycle is one distinctive feature of Octopath Traveler 2, which will influence both the aesthetics of the world and the Path Actions that characters might do. The classes, on the other hand, remain unchanged. While the classes may appear to be the same, each new character in Octopath Traveler 2 will bring their own unique flavour to the role, showing how a playable protagonist like Osvald will differ from his scholarly predecessor Cyrus from the original Octopath Traveler. Following the sad events in his life, Osvald has a natural mistrust of others, which is reflected in his Path Actions. He can observe individuals throughout the day cycle as a Scholar and learn knowledge from them as long as his reputation is untarnished. Osvald may mug individuals during the night cycle in order to steal stuff from trusting NPCs, demonstrating how he can be dishonest under certain conditions. Before a battle, Osvald examines his opponents to determine their weak areas and deploy his arsenal of spells to deadly effect. He may focus his spells to turn an ability with several targets to an ability that attacks only one enemy with higher strength when his latent power gauge is full, making him a very devastating party member.
